COLUMBUS, NEB - 9/6/2015 - Through a blind drawing system the post position of the horses at the starting gate is determined by Wayne at AG Park on Saturday, September 6, 2015. The order in which the horses line up at the starting gate is one of the many factors coming into play on race day.

COLUMBUS, NEB - 9/6/2015 - VanHorne's Village, running in the first race of the day, is watered down before being saddled by trainer Schuyler Condon (right) as Nathan Moore (left) holds the young Thoroughbred mare outside of the paddocks.

COLUMBUS, NEB - 9/6/2015 - Racetrack outriders are responsible for maintaining a safe environment during live races at AG Park. On race day the outriders lead the race horses onto the track for the post parade to the starting gate, then escort the jockeys to their post positions.

Attendees of the race are allowed to view the horses before placing bets as the trainers prepare the Thoroughbreds for the beginning of the race.
